Hello!
For this blog, I decided to listen to a song by the girl group TWICE! Although they are a Korean group, they often make Japanese versions of their songs, such as the one I listened to: "What is Love?" They are one of my favorite artist. I love that they're cheerful and bubbly!
Since I'm used to listening to this song in Korean, listening it in Japanese was different for me. As I watched the lyric video, I noticed some words and phrases we've learned in class. Some examples are:
Uh 今はひとり (Uh ima wa hitori) - I knew ima means now and owe recently learned this past week ひとり as 'one person.' In the video, the English translation is Uh I'm alone now. Out of curiosity, I looked up what lonely was in Japanese to see if it was ひとり, but it turned out to be 寂しい (sabishii or samishii).
何時？何処で？何もかもが未知 (Nanji? Doko de? Nanimokamoga michi) - This line reminds of me of when we learned how to ask for specific things, such as in this case 何時 or なんじ to ask for the time and 何処で or どこで to ask where, referring to location.
It was cool and interesting to hear this song and pay attention to the lyrics now that I know some Japanese words or phrases. Even though I didn't understand everything, I hope to get to a point where I can understand the songs on my own!
